David Leon - Woodwinds

Locomotive is a double horns-electric guitars-percussion sextet operating at the crossroads of folkloric tradition and experimental practice. Led by rising stars David Leon on saxophone and trumpeter Adam O’Farrill, the band creates a contemporary sound rooted in jazz and traditional musics from the Caribbean and South America. They are joined by Eli Greenhoe and Tal Yahalom on guitars, and Caleb Michel and Daniel Prim on hand-percussion. Individually, its members have been mentioned in the New York Times, The Wire, PopMatters and Downbeat Magazine’s Critic’s Poll among others. They have performed with a wide spectrum of musical artists including Mary Halvorson, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Vijay Iyer, Edmar Castañeda, Blue Man Group, Contemporaneous, and Hiromi.
