Harry T Pope And His Band
Lineup
About the Event
Harry T Pope and his 7-piece band return to PizzaExpress Live, debuting at the Holborn venue - just down the road from where the group met at University and where Harry wrote a number of his releases. Having returned from his sold-out tour of Japan earlier this year, Harry is back to share new originals and his favourite classics in his home city with his 3-piece horns and rhythm section. Lovers of jazz, retro pop, and songwriting from an older time are sure to enjoy Harry’s eclectic musical style and exhilarating renditions of his upcoming debut album and well-known covers.
Harry T Pope is an independent artist from Watford. With eclectic influences from the 60s and 70s, his music recalls the songwriting of older eras presented in modern production, fusing catchy pop melodies with jazz harmony, rock energy, and soulful vocals.
Having written songs from a young age, Harry grew up experimenting with various instruments, leading to his multi-instrumentalist approach when arranging and recording. He co-produces his material with best friend, Alex Baker, with the pair recording most of the instruments themselves.
This performance is somewhat of a homecoming for Harry and his 7-piece band. Most of the group met at King's College London down the road, forming the band Fleet Street Beats and cutting their teeth in the nearby student bars and functions. Having written a number of his releases just ten minutes down Kingsway, Harry and the band will feel at home while bringing the tunes to life in such a familiar venue.
Harry’s live performances showcase an energetic exploration of styles and genres, while his three-piece horn section provides a jazz grounding. This sound is captured in his independently released debut single, ‘Stay Away’ and subsequent debut EP, ‘A Different Kind’.
He has performed at PizzaExpress Live venues across London and, last year, supported renowned soul legend Vanessa Haynes at the Palace Theatre as part of the Watford Jazz Festival. Having recently returned from his sold-out tour of Japan, Harry is working towards the release of his debut album later this year.
