Sean Gibbs Big Band + Frida Touray

They will perform music from their acclaimed new EP Set Me Free, which was launched with a live session for BBC Radio 3's In Tune. The EP augments Sean's roots in the jazz tradition with a diverse range of influences from Motown through to blues and folk singer-songwriters. Sean's music has been featured as Jazz FM's album of the week, received a five star review in BBC Music Magazine and been nominated for Best Album at the Scottish Jazz Awards.

Sean Gibbs is an Edinburgh born jazz trumpeter and composer/arranger based in London. He has performed sold out gigs with his big band at Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Soho and Vortex Jazz Club. His album releases have drawn critical acclaim – including a five star review in BBC Music Magazine and a nomination for Best Album at the Scottish Jazz Awards. Jazz FM has selected Sean’s music twice for their album of the week, and he has exceeded 2 million streams on Amazon Music. He has also been featured on Cerys Matthews’ BBC Radio 6 show.

Sean is a member of the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Daniel Casimir Big Band and Young Pilgrims. He has performed with the likes of Kurt Elling, Kenny Washington and Jazzmeia Horn at venues including New York’s Lincoln Center and Tokyo’s Bunka Kaikan. He has been commissioned to compose for the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Greater Manchester Jazz Orchestra and the University of Miami's Frost Studio Jazz Band.
