After leading the choir at Pangbourne College, music gradually faded from his life until the age of 38, when his neighbour Betty Bleakley bravely offered singing lessons. Despite Betty’s warning that it was too late for opera, he secretly enrolled in a weekend opera course, eventually performing in twenty operas and enjoying three memorable seasons at Grange Park Opera. His musical theatre experience included a role in South Pacific at Grange Park and portraying Captain von Trapp in London. Over the past twenty years, he has been guided and inspired by his singing teacher, Arwel Treharne Morgan.

Several years ago, much to his own surprise, he composed his first song, Streams. Meeting music director Robert Emery proved fortuitous, leading to a collaboration on piano accompaniment and exceptional orchestral arrangements recorded at Abbey Road Studios. These recordings have brought him regular exposure on BBC television and numerous radio interviews. With Robert’s encouragement, he is currently working on a fourth album, following the releases of A Journey, Footprints, and Freedom. Freedom, written for Ukraine, went viral on YouTube, reaching 9.5 million views. His connection to Ukraine is personal, as his three-times-great grandfather served as the last Commander in Chief of Allied Forces to liberate Crimea during the Crimean Campaign of 1854–57.

A romantic at heart, he is deeply passionate about singing from emotion—be it love songs, duets, heartbreak numbers, comic pieces, or jazz. His inspiration from musical theatre is evident in his performances of songs from various shows. Surrounded by a circle of talented singing friends, he cherishes the opportunity to share the stage and create joyful moments together. For him, there is no venue more intimate than the Pheasantry, and he warmly invites you to join in the celebration.
