Tineke Postma Group ft. Theo Bleckmann

Saxophonist and composer Tineke Postma keeps growing and searching for new sounds. With her ninth album VOYA, released on the Swiss label Clap Your Hands, she continues that search along uncharted paths. The title points at once to ‘voyage’, to ‘voice’ and to Oya, the Yoruba wind goddess of transformation, breath and storm. In this way VOYA becomes a journey through wind, voice and spirit.

For this release tour Postma performs with her Tineke Postma Group: David Dorůžka on guitar, Robert Landfermann on double bass and Tristan Renfrow on drums. Years of touring together have shaped a sound that is personal and always evolving, grounded in trust and attentive listening. Joining them is New York singer Theo Bleckmann, whose vocal colour also features on the album. Running through the music is the spirit of Postma’s mentor Wayne Shorter, honoured in her interpretation of his composition A Place Called Somewhere.
