About the Event
Join anaiis and Tayo Rapoport for our Conservatory’s final public performance ahead of its renewal, bringing together film, music and movement in a collective act of devotion.
Devotion & The Black Divine (2026) is an artist film by anaiis and Tayo Rapoport, a meditative work that decomposes and reimagines the sonic and visual worlds of anaiis’s album of the same name. The film centres the voices and presence of Black women in the uncontained wilderness and sacred land of Jamaica, where reconnecting with the earth becomes a reclamation of our inherent divinity.
In our Conservatory, anaiis and Tayo curate a durational live score blossoming out of a night-time field recording of the forest in Portland, woven with textures from the album. Artists and performers respond in sound and movement, extending the landscape of the film and conjuring a collective prayer. The artists invite audiences to explore the space and listen deeply, returning to the land and to themselves.
