London Symphony Orchestra/Half Six Fix – Prokofiev

About the Event

Kick-start your evening with a 60-minute Half Six Fix concert, featuring the music of Prokofiev. Introduced by the performers, with screens in the hall to bring you closer to the action. Prokofiev’s fairytale opera The Love for Three Oranges, about a prince cursed to fall for a trio of oranges, is both comic and grotesque thanks to the composer’s blend of biting harmonies, driving rhythms and tender lyricism. If anything, the music from Prokofiev’s earlier opera Chout (The Buffoon) is even more savage and satirical. You can hear the distilled brilliance of both operas in these masterful suites. LSO Principal Guest Conductor Gianandrea Noseda, a renowned conductor of Russian music leads the LSO through Prokofiev's witty programme. This performance will end at approximately 7.40pm, with no interval (timings subject to change).
