Sounds of April & Randall is the jazz duo of vocalist April May Webb and trumpeter Randall Haywood, a married bandleading team whose partnership began at a Jersey City jam session before they’d even spoken. Webb, a Newton, Kansas native who studied under Mulgrew Miller at William Paterson University, won the 2024 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Haywood, Juilliard-trained and the youngest-ever member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra at 15, serves as musical director for The T.S. Monk Band and was named “Male Rising Star” by Hot House Jazz Magazine and Jazzmobile.

Since forming in 2014, the duo has blended jazz with country, R&B, gospel, and pop, earning U.S. Cultural Ambassador status through the State Department, grants from Chamber Music America and South Arts, and national chart placements. Together, Webb and Haywood have built a distinctive voice in modern jazz rooted in their real-life partnership as collaborators and spouses.
