At just 16 years old, Abadey joined the band of Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Wallace Roney, launching a professional career that has since included performances and recordings with an extraordinary range of artists, including Ravi Coltrane, Chris Potter, Melissa Aldana, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Ethan Iverson, Wayne Krantz, Nicholas Payton, Tomasz Stańko, Gilad Hekselman, Seamus Blake, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Frank Lacy, Wynton Marsalis, and Buster Williams.

Among the defining moments of his early career, Abadey performed for First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House and became the youngest artist ever selected for the Strathmore Artist in Residence program. In 2009, he received a Presidential Scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music, where he studied with renowned artists and educators Terri Lyne Carrington, Ralph Peterson, and Darren Barrett.

After relocating to New York City in 2012, Abadey quickly emerged as one of the city's most in-demand drummers. Today, he maintains an active international career as a performer, recording artist, composer, and educator, collaborating with leading voices in contemporary music while continually expanding the possibilities of the drum set through a deeply personal and adventurous musical vision.
