About the Event

After heatwaves, monsoons, sunburn and U-turns, we’re overjoyed to be back at our favourite London home for one autumnal night only.

With songs of hope and heresy, melody and mayhem, we’ll wander through our collection, following soul-scarred, jazz-touched and Latin-leaning breadcrumbs all the way back to Soho in time for bed. Along the way there’ll be stories, grooves, laughter and the odd surprise, all delivered with the warmth, wit and musical chemistry that make every Loco Ironico show unique.

So come and join us for the journey, friends—we can’t wait to welcome you back.

Following their sold-out PizzaExpress Live Soho debut, Loco Ironico return to Soho with Augmented Awesome Autumn—an evening of original songs, irresistible grooves and musical storytelling delivered with warmth, wit and world-class musicianship.

Led by acclaimed singer-songwriter Joe Cang and Italian pianist, composer and arranger Matteo Saggese, Loco Ironico blends jazz, soul, Latin influences and contemporary songwriting into a sound that is both sophisticated and deeply accessible. Their music is full of memorable melodies, unexpected twists and the gentle irony that gives the band its name.

Joe Cang has enjoyed a distinguished career as a singer-songwriter, bass player since being signed to Arista Records by Clive Davis. As a songwriter he has written and collaborated with artists including Daryl Hall & John Oates, Aswad (co-writing their UK Top 5 hit “Shine”), Scritti Politti, KT Tunstall, Marianne Faithfull, Hugh Masekela, Leona Lewis, Ian Dury a. Praised by the Evening Standard as “one of London’s great singers and songwriters,” Joe’s music combines lyrical intelligence, soulful melodies and a distinctive musical voice. While Matteo Saggese has enjoyed an international career as pianist, arranger and composer, collaborating with artists including Zucchero, Il Divo, Omar, Ohio Manzanera, Mina, Adriano Celentano, Céline Dion, and many others across Europe.

Joining them are two of the UK’s most respected musicians: bassist Nick Pini, whose remarkable career has included collaborations with artists such as Laura Mvula, Tom Jones, Seal, Mike Oldfield and many more, and the outstanding Frank Tontoh, one of Britain’s most in-demand drummers, celebrated for his work with Amy Winehouse, Craig David, Richard Ashcroft, Gabrielle and countless international artists.

Together they create performances that balance virtuosity with generosity, allowing every song the freedom to breathe while never losing sight of melody and emotion.

Expect songs of hope and heresy, melody and mayhem, soul-scarred stories, jazz-touched harmonies and Latin-leaning grooves—all wrapped in the relaxed intimacy that makes PizzaExpress Live Soho such a special place to share live music.

Come for the songs. Stay for the journey.
