Joe Webb Trio

About the Event
Joe Webb is one of the most exciting young pianists in British jazz, with music that draws on the jazz piano tradition, his Welsh roots and a lifelong love of 90s Britpop. Joined by Will Sach on double bass and Sam Jesson on drums, his trio returns to Ronnie Scott’s for a special festive performance.
Inspired by the trio’s performances together over the last two years, Webb began composing music specifically tailored to Sach and Jesson. Their music draws on the jazz piano tradition while reflecting Webb’s Welsh roots, love of football and deep connection to the music he grew up with.
Following his Mercury Prize-nominated album Hamstrings & Hurricanes, Webb’s latest release Neath Beat continues this approach, bringing together the rhythmic drive of stride, the melodic directness of Britpop and the improvisational freedom of the piano trio. His playing has earned support from Wynton Marsalis, Jamie Cullum and Gilles Peterson, as well as performances with RAYE and appearances on Later... with Jools Holland.
For this special December show, the trio will perform music from their releases alongside arrangements of some of their festive favourites.
