Kennedy Administration was born in New York from the musical chemistry between powerhouse vocalist Kennedy and Czech-born keyboardist and producer Ondre J, a longtime collaborator of Grammy-winning singer Gregory Porter. What began with a chance encounter and a successful club residency quickly developed into a distinctive project blending jazz, R&B, soul, hip-hop and pop. A six-year residency at Manhattan’s renowned Groove established the band as a fixture of New York’s live music scene, while their energetic performances and strong interplay became the foundation of their sound.
Kennedy’s musical journey began in her grandfather’s small church in Michigan, surrounded by influences ranging from Ella Fitzgerald and Anita Baker to Sade, Michael Jackson and Prince. After moving to New York, she established herself within the city’s music scene and worked with acclaimed artists including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Terri Lyne Carrington, Christian McBride, Jeff “Tain” Watts, James Genus and Nate Smith. Her powerful, soulful jazz voice combines these wide-ranging influences with a character entirely her own.
Since 2015, Kennedy Administration has brought its infectious groove to stages across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, and opened for Elton John in 2018. Their self-titled debut album followed in 2017, with Second Term released in 2023, cementing a musical identity built on original material, genre-crossing compositions, outstanding musicianship and the unmistakable energy of their live performances.
