About the Event
Led by bassist and director Ed Babar, Blues and Roots Ensemble (BARE) celebrates its 10th anniversary with From Mingus to Modern Voices: Protest Jazz Reimagined, a programme exploring the music of visionary artists including Charles Mingus, Abdullah Ibrahim and Dorothy Ashby, alongside new arrangements of jazz classics and overlooked gems from across the tradition.
The programme draws on jazz history while being shaped by the individual voices of the musicians who bring it to life. Now marking a decade of performances, BARE continues to bring audiences together through music that is bold, generous and full of joy.
Alongside its performances, BARE is a registered charity with a growing reputation for innovative approaches to music education, creating opportunities for participants of all ages and backgrounds through workshops, online resources and live performances.
