About the Event
For more than three decades, Nathan Haines has been at the meeting point of jazz, soul, hip-hop and electronic music. From his pioneering work with the late Phil Asher and their influential Sound Travels and Squire For Hire albums, to collaborations with Marlena Shaw, Louie Vega, Goldie, Jamiroquai and Chaos in the CBD, Haines has built a singular career around musicianship, improvisation and a deep connection to the dancefloor. He returns to Ronnie Scott’s with his London-based band and longtime collaborator Vanessa Freeman.
Haines is a musician, producer and DJ whose work has consistently blurred the boundaries between jazz and contemporary club culture. His distinctive saxophone and flute playing have featured across more than a dozen albums of his own, alongside collaborations spanning jazz, soul, broken beat, drum & bass and electronic music.
For this Ronnie Scott’s appearance, however, Haines returns to the stage with his own London-based band, featuring Mike Patto on keyboards, Daniel Crosby on drums, Cameron McArthur on bass and Vanessa Freeman on vocals, alongside special guest guitarist Oscar Jerome. Expect a set that moves freely between deep jazz, soul, groove and the sounds of the dancefloor - a combination that has defined Haines’ music throughout his career.
“The acclaimed saxophonist and producer powers his way through profound slices of jazz, dance, and soul.”
