Ben Rubie is a violinist and composer born and raised in New York City, Ben started playing violin at age 5, studying at the highly regarded Opus 118 program in Harlem, started by Roberta Guaspari. He first started studying jazz and improvisation at age 10 at the Harlem School of the Arts jazz program, run by renowned jazz violinist and Berkeley College professor Rob Thomas. Ben is a two-time Billy Strayhorn award winner. He has played with musicians such as

Lenny White, Micah Thomas, The Mahavishnu Project, Ryoma Takenaga, and Ben Sherman

and studied with musicians such as Cooper Moore and Aaron Parks. He was recently

selected to audition for the prestigious Herbie Hancock program at UCLA in LA in 2025.

Ben has performed and recorded at venues such as The Falcon, Close Up, Carnegie Hall,

Rudy Van Gelder Studios, and Symphony Space
