Georgia Mancio Meets Jeanfrançois Prins

Multi-award-winning vocalist, lyricist and producer Georgia Mancio is internationally recognised for her supreme storytelling, authentic performances and collaborative kudos that includes Alan Broadbent, Ian Shaw, Liane Carroll, Kate Williams and ReVoice! Festival.

Tonight, she presents a new partnership with acclaimed Belgian guitarist, composer and musical director Jeanfrançois Prins, whose distinguished credits include Toots Thielemans, Quincy Jones, Lee Konitz, Judy Niemack and Michel Legrand. Having first played together in Brussels earlier this year, this performance marks Prins’ London debut. Together with bassist Calum Gourlay and drummer Dave Ohm, they explore the jazz, Latin and European songbooks, alongside each other’s distinctive originals.

Multi-award-winning jazz vocalist, lyricist and producer, Georgia Mancio, is a supreme storyteller and formidable force on today’s scene, creating work of beauty and bite, both personal and political.

Her copious industry acknowledgements include two Parliamentary Jazz Awards: Best Vocalist (2021) and Best Album (2020), and several nominations at the Jazz FM, British Jazz and Urban Music Awards. Her nine albums have consistently charted Top Ten in prestigious end of year Critics’ Choices.

Her revered partnership with Grammy-winning pianist/composer, Alan Broadbent, has yielded almost 50 co-written works, many published in their book, ’The Songs of Alan Broadbent and Georgia Mancio’. They have released three globally acclaimed albums (‘Songbook’, ’Quiet Is The Star’ and ‘A Story Left Untold’) and performed across Europe and the US, including Ronnie Scott’s and Jazz at Lincoln Center (NYC).

Other credits include: Liane Carroll, Ian Shaw, BBC Proms, Pat Metheny (lyric approval), Bobby McFerrin and her own festivals ‘ReVoice!’ and ‘Hang’. She also co-runs Eltham and Crystal Palace Jazz Clubs with drummer Dave Ohm and is a voice tutor at City St George’s University.

Jeanfrançois Prins is a melodic storyteller with a unique voice on his instrument. Described as “exceptionally elegant and expressive” by Jazz Times, his vocabulary runs the gamut of jazz guitar, with an immediately recognizable sound and style, however relaxed or adventurous the context may be.

Having spent most of his career between New York City and Berlin, he is an internationally sought-after musician, with distinguished collaborations including Toots Thielemans, Ivan Lins, Lee Konitz, Eddie Gomez, Quincy Jones, Michel Legrand, Kenny Wheeler, Gary Bartz, Judy Niemack, and the New York Voices.

Featured in Scott Yanow’s 2013 book “The Great Jazz Guitarists – The Ultimate Guide”, he has released eight albums as a leader and around 50 albums as a guest soloist. As a composer, arranger, musical director, and producer, he has thrived in projects ranging from jazz to world music, film scores, classical, avant-garde, pop, R’nB, and new music.

He recently returned to his roots: Brussels, where he took over the family’s label, GAM Records, and shares his poetic and passionate approach to music on a daily basis in new endeavors.
