Lawrence Power and Vilde Frang: Travellers Tales
About the Event
Two world-class string players come together to perform a captivating sequence of music that interacts with film and animated designs.
Acclaimed violinist Vilde Frang and violist and Barbican artist-in-residence Lawrence Power join forces with creative director Jessie Rodger in this richly imaginative evening of music, exploring their mutual and solo repertoire against a backdrop of moving image ranging from from Enesco’s haunting The Fiddler to the uproarious story of Ferdinand the Bull.
Typical of collaborations between Power and Rodger, audiences can expect to be taking on a journey, weaving together musical and visual storytelling in one cross-arts programme. As Power reflects ‘a story is like a piece of string connecting the teller and the listener. Both people hold each end of it, and the story walks on the string between them'.
Presented by the Barbican.
Part of Artist in Residence: Lawrence Power.
Barbican Classical Music Programme receives major support from Marcus Margulies and additional support In Memory of John Murray.
