About RNS Moves
RNS Moves is a one-of-a-kind musical ensemble made up of professional disabled musicians and non disabled members of Royal Northern Sinfonia. Together, they are pioneering a new style of inclusive musicmaking with improvisation and experimentation at its heart. One that breaks boundaries and flips expectations. One where everyone has an equal voice and the chance to shine. One that hopefully won’t be one of a kind much longer.
RNS Moves performances are unforgettable experiences. Using a combination of traditional orchestral and electronic instruments, they weave together music from different eras, genres, and cultures into bold, innovative programmes with something to say about the world we live in. Whether it’s a fresh spin on a bit of Beethoven, an ancient folk song brought bang up to date, or a new piece written especially for them, they’ll make it sound amazing.
RNS Moves meet at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead several times a year to collaborate and create. They invite inspiring and pioneering artists to join them, to bring new perspectives, and to learn from each other. They’ve forged partnerships with world-leading musicians, including Kenyan nyatti virtuoso Rapasa Otieno Nytrapasa and leading contemporary composer and singer Heloise Werner.
