Gwilym Simcock is yet another icon of British jazz, one of the most gifted and imaginative composers on the Europea scene. I was a big fan of Gwilym long before we ever played together. Some years, many concerts and a duo album later, I am proud to call him an important musical partner and close friend, and any musical meeting with him is a privilege and a treat. We've played so much in the duo setting, and as keen composers we both enjoy and value a wide range of musical situations. This meeting in the quartet setting alongside such fantastic musicians as Gary Husband, a true legend of British jazz, and brilliant bassist Freddie Jensen, one of my longest standing collaborators and closest friends, is a wonderfully exciting prospect.
