GRAMN.
About the Event
Heads Up returns with another spotlight on the next wave of London talent. This time welcoming GRAMN. - the Hackney collective merging neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz and punk into a fearless, genre-blurring live experience.
GRAMN. is a London-based musical collective emerging from the creative hub of Hackney, East London. Fronted by powerhouse singer and songwriter Aux and driven by the innovative production of James Lowe, the project blends bold storytelling with a genre-fluid approach to sound.
Describing their music as “DIY soul,” GRAMN. draw from a rich melting pot of influences — neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, jazz and punk — creating a sound that is both soulful and rebellious. Silky melodies meet buoyant beats and unpredictable arrangements, giving the collective a distinct identity that resists easy categorisation.
The name GRAMN. reflects both the realities of modern life — where “everything can be sold by the gram” — and a stylistic nod to Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., a record that shaped Aux’s narrative-driven songwriting.
Since their debut single “Write It Down” in 2019, GRAMN. have steadily built a reputation as one of the UK’s most intriguing emerging acts. Their 2020 EPs MEDIUMN and MINIMUMN received widespread acclaim and led to the group being named Apple Music 1’s Ascending Artist for 2021. Their music has since been championed by BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, BBC 1Xtra’s Jamz Supernova, and tastemakers including Wonderland and GUAP.
Continuing to evolve, GRAMN. are now pushing further into a punk-R&B-rock hybrid, with new material and a highly anticipated EP arriving in 2026.
