About the Event

Mozart and Brahms raised the clarinet to new heights with their respective clarinet quintets, each composed for an exceptionally gifted player of the instrument. Pierre Génisson, a luminary of the great French school of wind playing, praised by Gramophone for the ‘searching eloquence’ of his music making, shares the stage with the Jerusalem Quartet, whose Mozart interpretations rest on foundations formed from deep experience. The programme includes the shortest of Shostakovich’s 15 string quartets, a work crammed with emotional contrasts and lightning-fast changes of mood.
