Claire Martin's Summer Songbook
Lineup
About the Event
Multi-award-winning vocalist Claire Martin OBE, joined by the brilliant pianist and composer Nikki Iles and bassist extraordinaire Laurence Cottle, present an intimate Friday lunchtime trio performance, celebrating some of their most cherished Great American Songbook classics.
Hailed as “one of the UK’s greatest jazz singers”, Claire Martin brings her signature warmth, storytelling, and emotional depth to the music, while Nikki Iles—praised for her “elegant touch and inventive harmonic sense”—provides fresh perspective through new arrangements written especially for this concert.
The programme features songs by Leonard Bernstein, Jimmy Rowles, and Ivan Lins, alongside affectionate nods to the great jazz divas who have influenced Claire throughout her career. Together, this exceptional trio offers a richly musical, deeply personal, and beautifully nuanced set.
""There are few, if any, finer jazz singers than Claire Martin. She’s certainly the best the U.K. has produced, with her cunning mix of straight-ahead purity and interpretive legerdemain."" - JazzTimes USA
