Ode to the classics — Ere Lievonen + Raymond Honing
About the Event
The ideal introduction to the Fokker organ
Have you always wanted to get to know the famous Fokker organ, but felt a bit intimidated by its unfamiliar sounds? In that case: this is the concert for you. Organist Ere Lievonen and flautist Raymond Honing will lead you on a journey through the land of microtones, while keeping the classical tradition recognisable in neo-Baroque dances and contemporary odes to Johann Sebastian Bach and the adventurous 18th-century organist, composer, and visionary music theorist Andreas Werckmeister. A concert that will sharpen your ears and stimulate your mind.
Adriaan Fokker’s 31-tone organ opens up a world of rich sound. Alongside novel microtonal sounds, the organ offers an unparalleled purity in works like Bach’s unfinished Contrapunctus 14 from Die Kunst der Fuge. Complemented by works written specifically for the organ, this concert is an accessible way to discover one of the Muziekgebouw’s greatest treasures.
