About the Event

Next year, 2027, marks the 200th anniversary of the death of Ludwig van Beethoven. In that year, pianist Misha Fomin will complete his prestigious Beethoven project: recording and performing the complete cycle of the composer’s thirty-two piano sonatas. The program of this concert features two sonatas by Beethoven: the surprising Grande Sonate, Op. 7 and the lyrical two-movement Sonata 'Für Thérèse', Op. 78. After the intermission, Fomin will perform two masterpieces from the Romantic era: Franz Schubert’s beautiful Impromptu and Johannes Brahms’s fiendishly difficult Paganini Variations.

Programme

  • Sonata No. 24 in F-sharp major, op. 78 'Für Thérèse'
  • Sonata No. 4 in E-flat major, op. 7
  • Four Impromptu's, D 935, op. 142
  • Variations on a theme by Paganini in A minor, op. 35
