Late Late Show Upstairs at Ronnie's with 22a
Lineup
About the Event
A brand-new project from pivotal UK jazz imprint 22a collaborators Tenderlonious, Hamish Balfour, Pete Martin and Tim Carnegie aka N22. Fresh off the back of their sold-out performance of Herbie Hancock’s Thrust at Ronnie Scott’s, the quartet started working tirelessly on some new groove-focused material, drawing inspiration from legends like Weather Report, Joe Henderson, Roy Ayers and The Headhunters.
Breaking away from the 60s hard-bop traditions and swing era of jazz showcased on Tenderlonious’ previous album You Know I Care, N22 is the bold new project delivering a fresh repertoire of groove-heavy funk, lush Fender Rhodes, deep synth textures, slick bass lines, crisp drums and soaring woodwinds.
This highly anticipated album also features collaborations with Hindustani classical innovators Jaubi and London jazz powerhouse Nick Walters, making this premiere performance your chance to hear the future of jazz before anyone else.
“An industrious presence on London’s jazz scene for the best part of a decade... eclecticism [is] his calling card.”
— The Guardian
“Tenderlonious is a key figure in the UK jazz firmament. As a producer, musician, and performer, he’s helped raise the bar, embarking on a huge array of projects.”
— Clash Magazine
