About

Greek bassist, composer and producer Petros Klampanis has established himself as one of the most distinctive voices on the contemporary European jazz scene. Splitting his time between Athens, New York and Central Europe, he draws on Mediterranean and Balkan musical traditions alongside modern jazz, creating music that is lyrical, atmospheric and deeply personal. Named a "Bass Ace" by Bass Player magazine, he has collaborated with artists including Greg Osby, Shai Maestro, Arooj Aftab, Jacques Morelenbaum and Snarky Puppy, while his own recordings have earned international acclaim.

For these shows, Klampanis will present music from his forthcoming album, offering the first glimpse of a new chapter in his work as a composer and bandleader. Placing the bass at the heart of the music, not only as the rhythmic foundation but as a melodic, expressive voice, the programme balances carefully crafted compositions with improvisation, moving between spacious, contemplative passages and moments of rhythmic intensity.

Joining Klampanis are pianist Kristjan Randalu and drummer Ziv Ravitz, two longstanding collaborators whose intuitive interplay has become central to his trio sound. Together they create intimate yet expansive jazz, drawing on the colours and traditions of the Mediterranean.

“This trio exudes an organic unity, conveying the effortless sensation that everything falls naturally into place. As he etches the next chapter of his musical journey with poetic refinement, Klampanis proves to have a pure voice as a bassist and composer.”

“These three musicians have an affinity to the music of the Bill Evans trio, the version with Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian. Yeah, it's that good.”
