About the Event
Visionary saxophonist and composer Camilla George returns to Ronnie Scott’s for a powerful showcase of her intoxicating fusion of jazz Afrofuturism, deeply rooted in West African rhythm and storytelling.
A central figure in the new wave of UK jazz alongside peers like Nubya Garcia and Shabaka Hutchings, Camilla George brings her core band and hand-picked special guests for a night of fearless improvisation, deep groove and forward-thinking jazz.
Following a decade of critical acclaim - including three celebrated albums (Isang, The People Could Fly, Ibio-Ibio) and standout performances across Europe and beyond, including a starring role in Jazz Jamaica, George now looks ahead, revisiting past material through a fresh lens while hinting at what’s next.
Expect rich textures, rhythmic fire and a sound that’s as politically charged as it is danceable. This is bold, modern UK jazz from one of its most compelling voices.
“One of the astonishing young talents in the jazz world… in many ways, Camilla George exemplifies the diverse musical identity of the London jazz scene.”
— The Guardian
