About the Event

The Bads are always in demand to play at clubs and festivals in UK and Europe and this is a great opportunity to experience this wonderful funky (and friendly) band up close in a club setting. Their music has always featured one quality above all others – viz. the groove, the whole groove and nothing but…! With some star session musicians and 3 stunning female singers upfront, this will be an evening of soul, blues, funk, jazz and just maybe a bit of country to touch your heart, soul and feet!

Over the last decade, Bad Girls Groove (“The Bads”) have built an enviable reputation for their high octane vocal and visual performances both in the UK (Hard Rock Cafe, Blues Kitchens, Crypt - St Martins Trafalgar Sq., PizzaExpress etc) and in Europe, particularly at the Fete de la St Louis in sunny South of France and Cork Guinness Jazz Festival.

In addition to top vocal talent, the Bads now feature some truly impressive session musicians, starting in the steaming ”Engine Room”, with extraordinary in demand drummer Jamie Murray (Robben Ford band and Gretsch drums and Zildjian endorsee) and definitely “the drummer to watch”, in the opinion of Rhythm Magazine, and Trev Boxall on bass who according to London Jazz News “…brings us squarely back into the territory of 70’s jazz-funk “. Sax fans should check out Trimmer, our horn player with tone to die for, a BA in Jazz Studies and MA in Electro Acoustic composition, who survived endless gigs in dodgy European clubs and bars with the late Ginger Baker (who still owes him £40). Keeping things lively is the constantly in motion Alberto Manuzzi, Italian keyboard wizard with an MA in Musicology. Roger Bolt on trusty Telecaster has no degrees in anything but has played more gigs than he cares to remember from Sydney to St Albans.

The 3 gorgeous Bads upfront – Sophie, Leigh and Emily have built a repertoire of soulful tunes that sidesteps the obvious and allows them to show off their vocal and dancing talents, fine-tuned perfect harmonies and - above all – their sheer joy and enthusiasm at performing for – and getting on down with - appreciative audiences everywhere. However, this band does not dwell on past glories and their musical mission is, now and forever to…entertain you, play the groove, the whole groove and nothing but the groove; will it be as funky as hell? Yup. Will there be some songs we know? Sure. Will there be long tedious pretentious guitar solos? Absolutely not! Promise.

"“Just to say this truly excellent band has 3 girl singers, backed by a funk machine of sax, keys, bass, drums and guitar.” " - The List
