About the Event
Chamber Music with Members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic
Experience big performances on a more intimate scale when musicians from the Los Angeles Philharmonic perform chamber music in small ensembles. This evening offers a closer look at the influence and variety of British composers.
Hear a soul-grabbing lesser-known gem by Ralph Vaughan Williams, the founder of the nationalist movement in English music, alongside four lullabies from Thomas Adès’ 2016 opera The Exterminating Angel. Inspired by Luis Buñuel’s 1962 surrealist psychological drama of the same name, these berceuses are dark and strange, drawing on the opera’s melancholy duets between its doomed lovers.
Come early and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine before the performance, starting at 6:30pm.
Program
