Joe Thompson: “Beyond Ipanema”

A 100th birthday celebration of Antônio Carlos Jobim

Antonio Carlos Jobim’s 100th birthday party!

The Joe Thompson quartet featuring Nigel Price plus guests.

“Tom” Jobim (1927-1994) was one of the twentieth century’s most celebrated songwriters, and not just because he wrote one of the world’s most recognised songs, “The Girl From Ipanema”. One of the godfathers of the Bossa Nova in the 1960’s, he successfully merged the Brazilian samba with cool jazz and wrote hundreds of songs that are melodically, harmonically and rhythmically rich, and yet supremely catchy. 25th January 2027 would have been his 100th birthday, so come and join us for a Jobim fiesta!
