About the Event
Beethoven’s impact on the world of music was immense. Among the Romantic composers to inhabit Vienna after him, Alma and Gustav Mahler felt the profound effect of his work in their own music. Further afield, Anton Arensky’s string quartet – unusually scored for two cellos – borrowed the same folk melody that Beethoven used in his second ‘Razumovsky’ Quartet of 1806.
