Thibaut Garcia & Antoine Morinière — 300 years Johann Gottlieb Goldberg

In 2027, it will be exactly three hundred years since the birth of Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, the harpsichordist after whom Johann Sebastian Bach’s famous Goldberg Variations are named. For Thibaut Garcia and Antoine Morinière, it was only a matter of time before they took on this monumental work: for more than fifteen years, the two guitarists have explored the Baroque repertoire together through their own transcriptions. For this project, they each transcribed half of the variations and even commissioned two identical guitars to be built. Four hands and twelve strings thus merge into a single instrument, casting Bach’s masterpiece in a striking new light.
