Jules Gardner - Woodwinds
Thorbjørn Stefansson, double bassist and composer, is widely recognized as a versatile artist on the scene for improvised music. He is an integral part of the American, Danish, and German jazz scene and has collaborated with numerous national and international artists, including Tim Hagans, George Garzone, Kit Downes, and Jim Black. Thorbjørn is involved in a number of projects and, in 2024, released the debut album with his trio Dream Big Fish. In 2024, he won a Danish Music Award (DMA) in the category “Alternative Jazz Release of the Year” for Rasmus Holm Quartet & Crush String Collective – anXietY Suite (2024). Other releases include Jon Elbaz Quartet – Don’t Blink (2026), Kaiser Pommes (2024), Sun Ark (2024), Nissen Mosh – Precious (2022), and Rasmus Holm Quartet – Fatamorgana (2021). In 2021, he received the JIB Jazz Prize for Outstanding Soloist, and in 2025, he was awarded The Sweet Basil Jazzclub Scholarship. Thorbjørn has performed at internationally recognized jazz festivals such as the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Aarhus Jazz Festival, Jazzwoche Berlin and Jazzfestival Regensburg, and has appeared live on radio broadcasts including Radio Brandenburg Berlin (RBB), Deutschlandfunk Kultur, P8 Jazz, and Radio Jazz Denmark.
Just as his mentors did for him, Robbie believes in giving back to the community and teaches regularly in the NYC metropolitan area, passing on his knowledge and inspiring the next generation of musicians. With a growing collection of awards and accolades to his name, Robbie continues to inspire, uplift and warm the hearts of audiences and his peers alike.
