Project DIVFUSE EXTERNAL : Kate Carr + David Sappa + Li Song
About the Event
Project DIVFUSE is presenting its third off-site event and a second one at Cafe OTO. Bringing together three artists who have exhibited or performed at Project DIVFUSE micro art space in Lower Clapton E5 since its doors first opened to the public in July 2021, this is an evening to showcase sound pieces that are sculpted with objects. It is also one of the events to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Project DIVFUSE - an independent exhibition platform in London dedicated to sound and multi-media art, run by Livia Garcia. www.divfuse.com
Kate Carr: Kate Carr Kate Carr is a London-based composer and field recordist whose work uses sound to explore the spaces we create together. She is particularly interested in shared public spaces, and the ways we deploy sound to connect, occupy, immerse and remove ourselves from locations, events and each other. Her live work is centred on objects, chance events and textures. Carr also runs the label Flaming Pines. Carr will be presenting experiments with sounding objects and simple robotic processes involving discarded objects. More: https://www.gleamingsilverribbon.com/about
David Sappa: David Sappa David Sappa works between sound sculpture, improvisation and field recording- with a dense smudge between. Their projects take shape via site-responsive processes, using things found or discarded —iron nails, driftwood, shells, glass, rope, brick, willow, plastic, frayed metal, burnt cinders and bone—reconfigured and animated to reveal tender frictions, instability and leaky thresholds. Li Song: Li Song Li Song is a London-based musician and computer programmer. He performs improvised music with his computer and composes music using electronics and acoustic instruments. His collaborative project with Zhu Wenbo, No Performance, focuses on compositions using environment sounds, acoustic instruments, computer algorithms, and random sequence. Recent works include Two Snare Drums (Infant Tree 2022), [ _ _ _ ] (with Jia Liu and Shuoxin Tan, SUPERPANG 2022) and Text (with Zhu Wenbo, Zoomin' Night 2021).
