Sitkovetsky Trio

Elfrida Andrée’s G minor Piano Trio, first published in 1887, bears eloquent witness to the inventive brilliance and refinement of the Swedish composer’s mature work. While the three-movement piece bears the influence of Schumann and Mendelssohn, it captures the listener with the individual character and strength of its themes. The Sitkovetsky Trio places it in company with Schumann’s passionate Third Piano Trio, described by Clara Schumann as being ‘original and increasingly passionate, especially the scherzo, which carries one along with it into the wildest depths.’
