EFG London Jazz Festival: Spice Jazz Soho: The Filthy Six
Lineup
About the Event
Soul Jazz Classics Special
The Filthy Six are putting on a special show for EFG London Jazz Festival this year, performing a selection of Soul Jazz classics from the golden period of this great music: the mid to late 60s. We're playing the night as a Quintet in deference to the original line ups of that time, allowing Pete Whittaker to showcase his skills on the left-hand bass!
They will be performing killer tunes from the likes of Lou Donaldson, Donald Byrd, Grant Green, Jack McDuff and more, so join us for a night of old school grooves and a Filthy good time at Crazy Coqs for the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Arguably the most exciting, authentic soul jazz outfit in the UK today, The Filthy Six have long
established themselves as one of the most electric live acts on the scene. Their soaring horns, blistering guitar and gut-wrenching organ are fuelled by one of the hardest-grooving rhythm sections around, producing a hip-shakingly powerful mix of soul jazz, funk, blues, and Latin boogaloo with a modern take on the finest traditions of the Blue Note/Prestige sound.
Nick Etwell – Trumpet, bandleader
Mark Brown – Tenor Saxophone
Pete Whittaker – Hammond Organ
