About the Event

What is a “Personality Girl”? Wildly popular girl singers of the 20s and 30s, among whom Helen Kane, Lee Morse, & Annette Hanshaw especially, were known for their characteristic vocals and ability to sell a song. These three women inspired timeless cartoons still popular today, sold over 4 million records, and even starred on Broadway - yet all three are now largely forgotten.

American songbird Elise Roth revives them and their sound in this show, where she impersonates each singer’s signature vocal style and delivery along with her band, featuring some of London’s most authentic players of early jazz.
