MICHAEL HILGENDORF
Michael Hilgendorf is a guitarist/composer from Detroit, currently based in New York City. Raised on progressive rock virtuosos, his infatuation with the guitar was always fueled by the fascination with pushing the boundaries of the instrument. Years later, now deeply entrenched in the modern jazz world, he still seeks to push the boundaries of the guitar, incorporating the technical elements of dazzling progressive rock and fusion virtuosity with the sensibilities of the modern jazz framework.

This has lead to Hilgendorf working with some of the most forward-thinking minds in this music: He's performed alongside modern masters such as Miguel Zenon and Dayna Stephens, as well as being a member of several projects coming from his generation of musicians.

Hilgendorf's achievements include placing in the semifinals of the 2025 Smietana International Jazz Guitar Competition, and winning an Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award.
