About the Event
Voces Suaves won critical applause for its recent recording of Jephte, with Gramophone appraising the performance as being ‘by turns vivid, animated, heartbroken and mournful’. The Swiss vocal ensemble, joined by the period instruments of Ensemble Ad Fontes, sets Carissimi’s haunting ‘sacred history’ in company with the chamber opera Les arts florissants, among the best-known works by his pupil, Marc-Antoine Charpentier.
