About the Event
Voodoo Brass Band is a high-octane improvising outfit, fast becoming one of the most internationally-recognised brass bands.
The group are thrilled to return to their spiritual home at PizzaExpress Live Soho, to release their debut album, Foisted.
Formed of players from various pockets of London’s melting pot music scene, the band consists of some of the most in-demand session players, improvisers, experimental musicians, producers, video designers, park runners and bike repairers.
Voodoo Brass Band’s exhilarating live show has ripped through the local club circuit and spilt out onto main stages, packed-out theatres and tours across the UK. Their music has been spun on stations worldwide, championed closer to home by Greg James (BBC Radio 1), Gaby Roslin (BBC Radio London) and Roman Kemp (Capital Breakfast).
Off-stage, the band’s reputation as a trailblazer in the UK brass scene speaks for itself. With over a million followers across social media and videos reaching over 100 million views, one has to travel far and wide to find those yet to experience the brass players running round the park, acknowledged with the release of Brass, Run!, a brass-oriented long-distance running partner.
Unruffled by viral celebrity, Voodoo Brass Band are keen to keep a finger on the pulse of what brought them together in the first place, and with it the release of their debut album. This launch will showcase some of the band’s favourites from their years performing together, a continuation of their characteristic mix of new music and upcycled classics, all fed through their distinctly vitalising, messying machine.
Ear-splitting originals, upcycled bottom-of-the-crate classics, all fed through the band’s distinctly vitalising, messying machine. A powder keg live experience that simply to been seen to be believed.
