About the Event

From audiovisual poetry to an ultra-personal album: in this double concert two unique soloists pour their hearts out. Hailing from Switzerland, Julie Campiche plays harp like no other, both acoustically and electronically. Raphael Vanoli adds a new dimension to the guitar with his voice and breathing.

‘I would venture to guess that Anon, who wrote so many poems without signing them, was often a woman’: with this quote by Virginia Woolf on her mind, Julie Campiche made her album Unspoken. Each piece tells the story of a woman who remained anonymous despite her impact. Campiche brings all these powerful voices to life with harp, vocals and electronics. Visual artist Sophie Le Meillour enriches the experience through scenography and video mapping.

Raphael Vanoli is not your average guitarist. As a solo performer, he develops a fascinating sonic world through unorthodox techniques, such as blowing and singing into the strings. The delicate resonances are amplified and distorted into something entirely his own. In this way, Raphael Vanoli recorded the solo album Bibrax. Now he presents Ventschau, his second solo album on Carton Records. The title refers to a small village in northern Germany where Vanoli regularly returned between 2018 and 2023 to compose. The time he spent there, alone in the forest, left its mark on how poetic and personal his music sounds. As a guitarist, he came to prominence with the casio rock duo Knalpot. He also performs in many other formations with, among others, Binkbeats, Jameszoo and Wolfert Brederode.
