About the Event

Continuing our series of gigs taking the legendary energy of the Ronnie Scott’s Late Late Show out of Soho and into the beating heart of London’s grassroots music scene. We’re bringing some of our favourite emerging musicians to the venues shaping the next generation of UK jazz, this time at Vespers in Peckham with Wonky Logic. Expect serious talent, close-up, no-filter performances, and the same unmistakable Ronnie’s spirit, just in a new postcode.

Wonky Logic is the project of Leeds-born composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Dwayne Kilvington, an artist whose work sits at the intersection of jazz improvisation and electronic production. Raised in Bramley, Leeds, Dwayne developed his musical voice through community spaces and informal scenes before becoming an active presence across London’s evolving jazz landscape.

As a collaborator, Dwayne has worked and performed with the likes of Nala Sinephro, Nubya Garcia, Theon Cross, Steam Down and Nightmares on Wax, moving between studio work, touring and live performance.

For this show, Wonky Logic will start with an improvised multi-instrumental solo set of breaks, jams and live electronics, before being joined by a full band of friends and collaborators for a set built on his original material, from early beat sketches to recent releases. Expect off-kilter grooves, heavy low end, and plenty of space for the band to stretch out.

Venue: Vespers, 133a Rye Ln, London SE15 4BQ

— Emma Warren
