Pi Recordings is an independent New York-based record label devoted to forward-looking voices in jazz and creative music. Founded in 2001, it has established a distinctive identity through its commitment to artists who challenge conventions while, expanding the language of improvisation. Over the course of its history, Pi has developed an acclaimed catalog that includes landmark recordings by artists such as Henry Threadgill, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, Steve Coleman, Muhal Richard Abrams, Steve Lehman, Tyshawn Sorey, Marc Ribot, Matt Mitchell, David Virelles, Vijay Iyer, Miles Okazaki, and many others. Rather than defining its music by a single aesthetic, the label has consistently followed the individual vision of its artists, championing music that is compositionally rigorous, deeply rooted in jazz history, and unmistakably contemporary.
At the heart of Pi Recordings is a commitment to artistic independence, originality, and sustained relationships with its musicians. Through this ongoing commitment, Pi has become one of the leading independent labels for contemporary jazz and adventurous music.
Join us in celebrating their 25th anniversary with three nights of music featuring the Jonathan Finlayson Quartet, the Dan Weiss Quartet, and Luke Stewart’s Silt Trio.
