Galilee Quartet
About the Event
The Palestinian quartet, made up of four siblings, make their Milton Court debut performing Arabic and Western classical music alongside original compositions.
Weaving Arabic melodic traditions with Western classical forms, this concert bridges the gap between both worlds through a shared musical language. Expect a richly textured programme that flows between classical works, Arabic folk pieces shaped by oral tradition and original compositions that bring these influences together.
Named after their home region, Galilee Quartet create music that reflects both cultural inheritance and formal classical training. Their journey has not been without challenge, between 2014 to 2015 the ensemble was separated when violist Omar was imprisoned for refusing compulsory military service. Since reuniting, the quartet has continued to develop an ambitious repertoire that has allowed them to play at the highest level across the world, showcasing Palestinian talent and resistance.
