Our Eyes Looking for God
About the Event
A groundbreaking opera exploring Black British experiences, telling an urgent national story of state violence through joy, love, laughter and pain.
An opera. A ghost story. A love story. Black boy joy and Black boy nightmares.
Our Eyes Looking for God is an exceptional and vital work written during the 2020 global racial reckoning. Writer & Director TD Moyo uses the operatic form, with its drama, music, staging and instrumentals, to tell an all-encompassing story about identity, state violence and love.
We are offering a special Schools matinee performance of new Black British opera, Our Eyes Looking for God, including a Q&A with writer & director TD Moyo and composer Renell Shaw. This performance is suitable for Years 11-12.
