Influenced by jazz and classic songwriting, her original compositions explore love, heartache, family and identity, brought to life through her warm and expressive voice in an intimate live setting. Joined by acclaimed pianist Rob Brockway, she brings an elegant and heartfelt evening of song. Laura Lantano is a contemporary singer-songwriter influenced by jazz and classic songwriting. Her songs are rooted in storytelling and lyrical honesty. She began playing piano at four and wrote her first song at eight - early instincts that continue to shape her voice. After studying music technology and classical piano, she trained as a jazz vocalist at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, grounding her music in harmony and improvisation. She previously ran the Jazz Singers Jam at Oliver’s Jazz Bar, curating evenings featuring leading vocalists including Heidi Vogel, Anita Wardell, Emilia Mårtensson and Brigitte Beraha. Her debut album, Returning To Myself, features a collection of original compositions recorded with pianist Sam Leak and tenor saxophonist Duncan Eagles. The trio collaboration established a sound that continues to shape her work. The album established her voice as a songwriter, with songs exploring love, heartache and renewal through carefully crafted arrangements. She has headlined shows at Crazy Coqs, Green Note, Piano Smithfield and the 1901 Arts Club, and has also appeared at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club (Upstairs), The Pheasantry and Jazz Café POSK. Her forthcoming EP, Where Are You Really From?, explores identity, family and cultural memory, drawing on stories from her Filipino and Mauritian heritage. Delivered through a warm and expressive voice, Laura Lantano creates intimate performances that resonate long after the final note.
