Benjamin Herman Trio

About the Event
Inspired by Tokyo’s hyper-eclectic underground music scene, jazz saxophonist Benjamin Herman once again pushes the boundaries of his discography. With his new project The Tokyo Sessions, Herman - together with Thomas Pol (double bass) and Jimmi Jo Hueting (drums) - creates a sonic world where acoustic jazz merges with driving electronics and samples.
Benjamin Herman is a British born Dutch saxophonist who has released over 50 albums as a solo artist and as leader of groove orientated ensemble New Cool Collective. Throughout the years his connection with the UK has seen him touring and recording with the likes of Guy Barker and Georgie Fame as well as Modfather Paul Weller and ‘the godfather of British jazz’ Stan Tracey. He has worked with hip hop artists, pop stars, poets (John Cooper Clarke is featured on Benjamin’s 2023 album Nostalgia Blitz) and many jazz legends from Idris Muhammad and Tony Allen to Alan Skidmore and Ronnie Cuber.
His latest release ‘The Tokyo Sessions’ was recorded in Tokyo with five Japanese guest musicians from different backgrounds. This tour features a new collaboration with New York based Japanese super producer Big Yuki on piano and keyboards. Big Yuki is well known in Europe for his work with Jose James’ live band.
