uclaFLUX: music of Steve Reich

Experience the pulse and precision of Steve Reich in a uclaFLUX program featuring Runners, New York Counterpoint and Traveler’s Prayer. From propulsive rhythms to intricate layers of sound, these works reveal the restless energy and striking emotional depth of one of contemporary music’s most influential composers.

uclaFLUX is devoted to the performance of chamber music from the 20th and 21st centuries. We explore and embrace new performance approaches and techniques associated with the dynamic, ever-evolving languages of contemporary music. In preparing to perform and produce quarterly concerts, students learn innovative modes of expression, interact directly with composers, and develop skills in concert promotion, production, and entrepreneurship.
