Flagey Academy & Lorenzo Gatto — Vivaldi: Gloria

The programme features Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, RV 589, composed for the Ospedale della Pietà, the Venetian orphanage renowned throughout Europe for the exceptional quality of its musical training. In keeping with this tradition, the work reflects Flagey Academy’s broader mission, where social engagement and high-level musical education go hand in hand.

The concert continues with Songs of Sanctuary by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, whose music draws on classical music, jazz, and ethnic musical traditions. The work marks the beginning of the Adiemus series, celebrated for its distinctive blend of invented vocal sounds and timeless melodic writing. Through its rich and evocative harmonies, the piece unfolds a serene and meditative sonic world, carried by the expressive power of the human voice.
