Mads Riis Quartet

Rooted in jazz, our music weaves a tapestry of powerful, evocative melodies, ambient soundscapes, and minimalist aesthetics. It is an exploration of identity and belonging. At its core, the music stems from a longing to find one’s roots and a sense of grounding in a time marked by increasing uncertainty. The result is music that paints vivid portraits of the inner life, where nostalgia and hope converge. It often draws from places, memories, or relationships, hoping that the music will appeal to the listener, allowing them to relate and explore memories and emotions in their own way.

Mads Riis released his debut album in May 2026 on all streaming platforms - he was awarded the Karl Hofer Jazz-Stipendium in late-2025 for his compositions, where the jury stated: ”With his warm sound aesthetic and deeply emotional playing, Mads Riis impressed across the board. (…) As a composer and guitarist, he creates an intimate yet powerful musical language that impressively combines personal experiences and artistic maturity."

He also won the first place in the Keep An Eye International Jazz Award final at BIMHUIS in april 2026 - playing his compositions with his group. This special perfomance will feature brand new songs and songs from the album.
